A 63-year-old man drowned this Tuesday afternoon after falling into the water from a boat in the Montgó cove in Torroella de Montgrí (Girona).

Civil Protection of the Generalitat has explained in a statement that a relative has alerted emergencies at 7:30 p.m. saying that the man was unconscious.

Two ambulances from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) intervened and tried to revive the man once he was out of the water, without success.

A psychologist from the SEM, the Local Police, the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Civil Guard have also attended.

It is the fourth fatality on Catalan beaches in this year’s summer campaign, which began on June 15.
