The fights were constant and the coexistence between father and son was terrible. The relationship with the residents of the El Catllar urbanization (Tarragonès) where the victim and aggressor lived was not good either. One of the fights, on Saturday July 15, escalated to the point that the son began to brutally beat his father. The facts have been revealed on Monday. The neighbors alerted the emergency services when they heard the screams and the blows in the house.
Upon the arrival of the police, the agents found the assailant with his hands and clothes stained with blood. He himself, a 47-year-old man from Eastern Europe, explained to the Mossos that he had fought with his father. The aggressor, nervous, tried to make the agents believe that his father was fine. But the 91-year-old victim appeared bloody and lying on the floor in one of the rooms, at the entrance to the home. Her face was destroyed.
The old man was treated by an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service (SEM) in the same house and immediately transferred to the Santa Tecla hospital in Tarragona. His son was arrested, and the court then opened an investigation for an alleged crime of attempted murder. The Tarragona duty court ordered the entry into provisional prison, communicated and without bail of the alleged aggressor at the beginning of last week.
The old man, admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), could not recover from the severity of the injuries. At the age of 91 and also originally from Eastern Europe, he died in hospital five days after being beaten by his son.
The investigating court number 4 of Tarragona, which has taken on the case, is now investigating an alleged crime of homicide, without ruling out that the aggressor ends up being accused of murder depending on what the investigation ends up bringing to light. The Mossos d’Esquadra are trying to find out what caused the fight and if there is any motive for the crime, in addition to the bad relationship between father and son, according to what several residents of the urbanization have explained.
The Mossos investigation unit in the Camp de Tarragona was able to collect various incriminating evidence in the house. Forensic analysis will help to find out details of how the brutal attack occurred.
The address is located in one of the many urbanizations, about thirty, that are in the municipality of El Catllar. At the house, the police found a large amount of garbage that had been accumulating inside. Father and son lived in painful conditions and it is not ruled out that the ill-treatment was common.
