A man arrested for harassing and touching a passenger on the Madrid Cercanías train for weeks

Agents of the National Police have arrested in Madrid a man who continuously harassed and sexually assaulted a passenger on the Madrid Cercanías network. The investigation began in November when agents from the Mobile Transport Police Brigade received a complaint from a woman who had suffered harassment and sexual assault on the C2 Cercanías line in Madrid.

The events were repeated over several weeks, by the same man, on the same train route and during the same time slot, which caused the victim to have to take alternative routes and different means of transportation to go to the hospital daily. your workplace.

The agents, after observing the behavior patterns of the aggressor reported by the victim, established a surveillance operation along the usual route to try to locate the man, while various investigative inquiries were carried out that finally allowed his identification.

Once identified, the investigators found out that the alleged perpetrator had a history of similar acts of the same nature, which included crimes of harassment of other female passengers on public transport.

After locating the aggressor’s home, in a Madrid municipality, a device was established in the vicinity that allowed his arrest. Once placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, a restraining order was imposed on the complainant, as well as on the Cercanías line where he committed the acts.

At this time the investigation remains open, since the agents do not rule out that other victims of both harassment and sexual assault may appear.
