They show a loving attitude through hugs, caresses, or even offering them, on some occasions, sexual favors. They gain their trust, giving different excuses such as looking like a family member, knowing each other from another past occasion, asking them for clothes or even alms.

During this distraction maneuver, they manage to take the jewels, leaving the place without the victims noticing the theft.

Another type of “affectionate theft” is carried out by several people, usually a man and several women, who park the vehicle to request information about, for example, the location of a health center, clinic or hospital. While the victim provides explanations, the women take the opportunity to steal the jewelry, quickly leaving the place.

This procedure is usually used by a group of itinerant criminals who travel throughout Spain, thus making it difficult to identify the perpetrators and thus make police persecution, as explained by the National Police.

In this sense, this Corps prevents this type of crime and others through talks in associations and senior centers throughout Spain, activities framed in the Greater Security Plan, which is carried out at the national level by the different Citizen Participation delegations.

In these talks, aimed mainly at older people, it is recommended to be wary of strangers who approach us with a loving attitude; do not bring people we do not know to our home; As far as possible, go to bank check-ins accompanied by a family member or trusted person.

Likewise, if you have been a victim or know someone who may have suffered this type of crime, you are asked to quickly notify 091 and file a report as soon as possible.
