The Pernambuco Fire Department reported that it sent four of its tanker trucks to the building, as well as a platform vehicle and another operations command vehicle, and that the tasks to combat the flames were also supported by a helicopter.
The residents of the building reported that much of the damage fell to a fuel supply station adjacent to the building and that they fear that a gigantic crane installed on the roof of the tower will also collapse.
The local energy distributor reported that it suspended the electricity supply in the streets surrounding the building until the situation is under control, and that it sent technicians to assist the firefighters.
