A man has died after being hit by a bull’s horn during the celebration this Saturday of the bous al carrer in the Valencian town of Pobla de Farnals. Another person – who had bull horn wounds on both legs – has been injured and is stable.

The deceased arrived at the Clinical Hospital of Valencia in serious condition and underwent emergency surgery, sources from the Ministry of Health said, but he died on Sunday as a result of the injuries he suffered. He was the head of sales for Latin America at Pamesa, to which he had been linked for 30 years, as confirmed by sources from the ceramic company.

Neighbors of the municipality explained that the event occurred this Saturday afternoon when the second bull of the celebration was released, which seconds later turned around and gored two men when they were trying to take shelter between some bars, but they did not have time to get to safety. .

Every year around 7,000 ‘bous al carrer’ are celebrated in around 280 municipalities of the Valencian Community. In addition to the hundreds of injuries, last summer was especially tragic in terms of fatalities.

The Minister of Justice and Interior, Elisa Núñez, from Vox, claimed last month the ‘bous al carrer’ as an “essential” part of the cultural heritage of Valencia and all of Spain. “Collaboration with clubs and organizations in the sector is essential to continue improving the security of this popular celebration, in addition to asking fans to enjoy the party, but always with caution because it is a celebration in which they participate freely, but that implies a risk,” he pointed out.
