The Civil Guard has carried out investigations into a resident of the Badajoz municipality of Villar del Rey, who was intercepted while driving a minibus carrying six special education students and who showed “obvious signs” of being under the influence of narcotic substances.
As reported this Wednesday by the Civil Guard, the action took place in the middle of last March, when agents from the Traffic Subsector of the Badajoz Civil Guard intercepted these vehicles at an Alcohol and Drug Verification point on the N- 523. This minibus provided public transportation with six people, heading to the different special education centers in the city of Badajoz.
Its driver, who showed obvious signs of being under the influence of narcotic substances, was subjected to a drug test, yielding a positive result, which has been confirmed after analysis by the Laboratory of the General Directorate of Traffic. For this reason, proceedings were initiated against him as an investigator for an alleged crime against road safety, and they have been sent to the Investigative Court of Badajoz.
The vehicle was immobilized and removed from the road to a duly authorized place, communicating to the owner company so that it had another driver who could take charge of driving and the passengers were cared for by the socio-health personnel who accompanied them in the journey.
The Civil Guard recalls that the regulations establish prison sentences of 3 to 6 months or a fine of 6 to 12 months or work for the benefit of the community of 31 to 90 days, as well as the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles. and mopeds for periods greater than 1 and up to 4 years.
