A district of Puebla de Arenoso and the town of Fuente la Reina will be evacuated due to the proximity of the flames of the fire declared this Thursday in Villanueva de Viver (Castellón), which the Emergency Coordination Center has elevated to Situation 2 – “high danger “- given the risk of seriously affecting the population and non-forest assets”.
Thus, it is contemplated that they join the extinction work, in which six aerial means are already working, “protection and relief” measures, as well as “extraordinary means”, according to reports from the Generalitat Emergencies, which details that the evacuated district is that of Los Calpes.
The fire broke out in a ravine area with a large forest mass and had already forced, for the moment, to cut a road and evacuate a farmhouse in a preventive manner.
According to sources from the Castellón Provincial Fire Brigade Consortium, there is currently no strong wind blowing in the area, although the flames are advancing rapidly due to the amount of combustible mass, which is also dry due to the lack of rainfall in recent months in area.
Six aerial means, four units of the Generalitat Forest Firefighters, a prevention unit, two environmental agents and a crew from the Consortium of Firefighters are working on the fire, according to Emergencies. A large column of smoke can be seen from several kilometers around.
The Emergency Coordination Center has established situation 1 of the Special Forest Fire Plan marked for fires that in their foreseeable evolution may “seriously” affect forest assets and, where appropriate, slightly affect the population and non-forest assets.
At the moment, a farmhouse had been evacuated, in a preventive manner, and one of the access roads to Villanueva de Viver, a town in the Alto Mijares region, had been cut.
In addition, eight people have been evicted from their homes due to the forest fire in the municipality of San Agustín, in the province of Teruel. The evicted people reside in Mas de Pastores -two-, Mas de Caballero -three-, Mas Lagartia -one- and Los Peiros -two-, the Civil Guard has reported.
Air and land means of the Government of Aragon have joined the troops mobilized by the Generalitat Valenciana, the firefighters of the Teruel Provincial Council and the Civil Guard.
