A carnival who touched twenty minors sentenced to seven years in prison

The case of a fairground denounced by twenty women, all but one minor, for touching them shook the last festivities in Gallarta (Bizkaia) last June. Now, seven months later, the accused person, aged 26, has been convicted of 22 crimes of sexual assault, and will serve six years and nine months in prison. Once she serves two-thirds of the sentence, she will also be “expelled from the national territory.”

The sentence, imposed by the Court of Bizkaia, is a consequence of the sum of sentences of between one year and two years and three months in prison for each of the 22 crimes he committed. However, in accordance with the provisions of article 76 of the Penal Code, which establishes that the maximum effective completion of the sentence may not exceed three times the time of the most serious sentence imposed, the defendant will ultimately serve a sentence of 6 years. and 9 months.

Specifically, in 17 of the cases the sexual offender is sentenced to two years and three months in prison for each of them, and in another five to one year in prison for each.

The sentence, in agreement between the parties, also establishes that the defendant compensates the victims with 5,000 euros, of whom 21 were minors. Likewise, it agrees that the convicted person, of foreign nationality, be expelled from the national territory when he serves three-quarters of the sentence.

The sentence states that the accused took advantage of the moment when he was adjusting the security systems in a hut known as the grasshopper to carry out the touching. According to the investigating judge, “from the proceedings carried out during the investigation it is indicative that between June 16 and 18, on the occasion of the Gallarta festivities, the person under investigation, taking advantage of the fact that he had to place the closing mechanism of an attraction at the fair, repeatedly performed non-consensual touching in the genital area.

The accused had remained in preventive detention since the moment he was arrested, seven months ago.
