A 76-year-old man died this Wednesday by drowning in a pool at the Ponts sports club, in La Noguera. The emergency teams received the notice around a quarter past two in the afternoon. It reported that the victim had been taken out of the water and that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest while the lifeguard tried to revive him.
A crew of Mossos d’Esquadra, municipal agents, an ambulance and a SEM helicopter have traveled to the sports club, which have continued with the resuscitation maneuvers, although the person has died at the scene of the incident.
Civil Protection recalls the importance of taking extreme precautions in swimming pools and beaches this summer. For this reason, they request that if someone is observed who is unwell or has difficulties in the water, the lifeguard service is urgently notified or the emergency telephone number (112) is notified to facilitate their own action.
