A 12-year-old boy stabs a classmate at a L'Hospitalet high school

A 12-year-old boy repeatedly stabbed a classmate from the Rubió i Ors de l’Hospitalet de Llobregat school in the back on Monday. The attack occurred during a break between two morning classes. The victim received six wounds in the back, all very superficial, as sources familiar with the investigation have confirmed to this newspaper. The attack, carried out by El Món, occurred around ten in the morning, at the exit of the first-year ESO classroom. Those responsible for the center alerted the Servei d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM), the Mossos d’Esquadra, who went to the school, and the parents of the two minors involved. The boy said that he “didn’t like his classmate.” The class tutor managed to remove the knife from the minor.

The boy, who did not go to class this Tuesday, does not have any type of apparent problem, nor had he been involved in any incident previously. He had “normal” behavior beyond being somewhat “shy,” according to sources familiar with the investigation. The boy belongs to a family of Spanish nationality, lifelong residents of Hospitalet. The little boy arrived at school on Monday with a kitchen knife from his house, which he took out and which he used against his classmate during the break between two classes.

The Catalan police have opened proceedings and have taken charge of the investigation, which will be handed over to the General Directorate of Care for Children and Adolescents (Dgaia) to carry out the appropriate administrative procedure. This Tuesday afternoon they will take a statement from the director of the institute.

This Tuesday, numerous parents approached the doors of the institute, alerted by the news of the incident. Imran, father of a Pakistani girl in a higher grade than the victim, also Pakistani, recounted what his daughter told him when she arrived home on Monday afternoon. “The boy stabbed her on the school stairs. The girl was on the floor with a lot of blood and she was crying.” An ambulance transported the minor to a medical center where she was discharged that same afternoon from the superficial injuries.

The father of this student also said that his daughter had told him that the boy had been warning his classmates for a couple of days that he was going to come with a knife. An extreme that, for the moment, no one has expressed in the various interrogations that have already been carried out by the police from the Hospitalet de Llobregat investigation unit.
