A 10-year-old boy has fled by train from Madrid to Ávila due to the abuse he allegedly suffered with his 13-year-old sister on a regular basis by his parents, who have been arrested by the National Police after recognizing that it is “their way of educating.”
The two parents, who admitted the facts after being denounced by the two brothers, are considered supposedly responsible for a crime of habitual abuse, since according to the testimonies of the minors they used to be attacked “continuously” with “the belt, with a cable charger and other everyday objects.
As reported in a press release by the provincial police station, the events occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, when the Operations Room of the Intelligent Command and Control Coordination Center (Cimacc) of the Police – previously known as the of 091 – ordered several agents to go to the Ávila railway station.
The reason was that a train from Madrid was heading there, in which a 10-year-old boy was traveling, unaccompanied and somewhat disoriented, as reported by the convoy conductor.
Given this situation, several patrols from the Provincial Citizen Security Brigade went to the station and, when they located the minor, they took him to the police station.
Once at the police station, the boy stated that he had run away from home, in the Community of Madrid, because his parents “continually attack him,” both him and his 13-year-old sister, “with the belt, with a charger cable and other everyday objects.
The agents took steps to locate the parents, who moved from Madrid to the capital of Avila to take care of their son, accompanied by their other daughter, also a minor, in an action that was taken over by the Police Unit. Attention to Family and Women (AFAM), of the Judicial Police.
During the interview, the girl reported, equally and “spontaneously”, the same as her brother, that both are “frequently beaten when they do not behave well.”
According to the Police, the parents confirmed their children’s words, pointing out that it is “their way of educating.”
The National Police contacted the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, which determined the admission of the minors to a detention center in the capital of Avila, as well as the arrest of their parents as alleged perpetrators of a crime of habitual abuse.
