David Vowell, the 70-year-old guy accused of murdering two fellow duck hunters in rural Tennessee earlier this week, had been found dead on Saturday.
Vowell was discovered dead in Reelfoot Lake, not far from where both men were fatally shot Monday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said.
Chance Black, 26, also Zachery Grooms, 25, were in Reelfoot Lake in northwest Tennessee on Monday morning when Vowell approached them got into a verbal altercation,” District Attorney Tommy Thomas told ABC News.
Thomas stated earlier that it was unknown if Vowell understood the 2 victims.
Vowell’s body has been discovered about 3 pm local time on Saturday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. A cause of death wasn’t announced.
Vowell had fled the shooting arena as his ship had been recovered and the car that he drove into the boat ramp was also captured, Thomas said Wednesday.
He was wanted on two points of first-degree murder.
The search has been conducted at a large, very rural region — Reelfoot Lake State Park — near the Missouri and Kentucky boundaries. Reelfoot Lake itself is 15,000 acres and is surrounded by thick, muddy swampland full of cypress trees.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation posted footage of these hunting the region on Friday, demonstrating the negative conditions they were coping with.
