649 kilos of cocaine seized in the port of Barcelona

The National Police and the Civil Guard have seized 649 kilos of cocaine in plastic boxes that arrived in a container from Panama. The police operation has lasted a year and a half and has been carried out jointly in both Barcelona and Mallorca, thus dismantling the largest criminal organization that operated in the Balearic Islands.

The FADE and TUCMA police operations have been carried out in four phases over the past year and are still active. In October 2023, an organization dedicated to large-scale cocaine distribution was dismantled. The gang’s modus operandi was to use legal transport companies to make deliveries without raising suspicions.

In previous phases of the operation, in the cities of Barcelona and Palma, approximately 1,100 kilos of cocaine mixed between liters of liquids and kilos of fruit were seized. Furthermore, in the multiple operations, 63 kilos of cocaine in ‘bricks’, 90 kilos of ketamine, 3,300 ecstasy pills and 500 kilos of cutting substance were confiscated.

The action ended with 82 detainees distributed in the two cities and with the closure of three cocaine processing and distribution laboratories. Likewise, 460,000 euros and three laboratories in the Catalan capital were seized.
