One man was killed and five other people, such as a 4-year-old kid, were wounded at a shooting in a playground in Alabama’s biggest town on Sunday evening as families gathered Easter, authorities said.
The shooting happened at around seven p.m. local time in Birmingham’s Patton Park, where hundreds of people were enjoying the hot weather on Easter Sunday. There was an altercation among a bunch of guys in the playground which resulted in”several shots” being terminated, Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said in a media conference.
A 32-year-old girl, who had been an innocent bystander, was captured dead within a vehicle.
There were no suspects in custody at Sunday night.
“This playground was filled with people, filled with families and we all know people saw things now,” Mauldin told reporters.
