Kira does not cause any disturbance to the neighborhood. This is how blunt Juan Carlos Vázquez is, the owner of a mixed breed dog weighing just over ten kilos. This resident of Barallobre (Fene, A Coruña) denies the complaint made by one of his neighbors in the local newspaper La Voz de Galicia, who claimed that “he has not stopped barking for twelve years.”

Vázquez assures that his complaint is unfounded. “No one else has ever complained about it, and there are several houses [all inhabited] closer to it than that man’s, which is about a hundred meters away,” continues the owner.

Beyond the distance between houses, this man explains that the dog sleeps inside the house, which makes his complaint even more implausible. In statements to this medium, the owner assures that he spends the night inside the house to avoid problems with wild boars, deer or foxes in the area. “I don’t want my dog ??to bother the neighborhood and she’s been sleeping inside for eight years,” he adds.

In addition, Kira has significant health problems. This mixed breed dog is “blind and deaf” due to age. That’s why she “spends 20 of her 24 hours sleeping.” The dog barks, at most, at other dogs that pass near the plot, they say.

Vázquez assures that, in the 15 years they have had the dog, they have never had problems with any neighbors. “You can’t say that he always barks, if even the delivery people who come to bring packages almost every week were surprised when they saw it in the newspaper because they didn’t know that we had a dog. And the baker, who has been coming here for three years, found out from the press that there was a dog in this house,” he tells La Voz de Galicia.

This neighbor from Fede claims that this neighbor has caused problems since he arrived in the town. According to his version, six years ago he approached him twice, the second time “in a bad way”, to complain about the barking.

The explanations did not convince him, so he took advantage of the fact that they were away for a few days during Easter to report them to the Civil Guard for abandonment. But there was no violation. Vázquez had left her in the care of her mother, who came every day to give her food and change her water, in addition to making sure she was in good condition.
