The offer of Chinese automobile brands in our country will grow in 2024 with another new addition. A couple of weeks ago we announced the arrival in Spain of Neta Auto, belonging to the New Energy Automobile (HOZON) group; and, now, according to information published in the Chinese media SinaTech, we can say that GWM (Great Walls Motors) will also land, whose forecast is to launch four models on the market in 2024, to which a fifth will be added to the next. This firm is already present in a small number of European countries, which will be expanded with a new expansion that includes Spain, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, Holland, Luxembourg and Italy.
The brand will market two product lines: on the one hand, the Ora 03 and Ora 07 electric cars (this will be the last to arrive); and, on the other, the Wey 03 and Wey 05 plug-in hybrid SUVs. The company’s plan is to have dealerships to carry out marketing, so it does not contemplate a strategy based on online sales.
As for the models that will be available in our market, we can say that the Ora 03, formerly known as Ora Funky Cat, is an urban tourism with a casual design. It is powered by a 126 kW (169 HP) electric motor that allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. Its 63 kWh battery offers a range of up to 420 kilometers. According to the brand, it can be charged from 15% to 80% of its capacity in 48 minutes.
The Ora 07 will be the last to join the catalog next year. It is a five-door, coupe-style electric sedan, with a marked roof drop at the back. Little information has been revealed about this car, other than that it will have a 300 kW engine and will offer a range of 570 kilometers. The car, which is in the homologation process, has not yet started to be sold.
Those that are marketed and will be available in Spain at the time of the brand’s launch are the Wey 03 and 05 plug-in hybrid SUVs. The first, with a maximum combined power of 325 kW, has a length of almost 4.7 meters and It has a 34 kWh battery that allows it to offer a range in electric mode of up to 136 kilometers. It can be recharged from an AC outlet of up to 11 kW or a fast outlet of up to 50 kW.
For its part, the Wey 05 is very similar to its younger brother. It is distinguished by having larger dimensions (it measures 487 centimeters), mounting a 350 kW propulsion system and achieving a range in electric mode of 146 km, a very high figure for a plug-in hybrid model.
In 2025, GWM is scheduled to launch a compact electric SUV on the market that will be marketed under the Ora brand (it will be called 04 or 05) and will be smaller in size than the Wey 03.
