The PSC was the only party represented in Parliament that attended this Monday in Barcelona the institutional event of the 45th anniversary of the Constitution organized by the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia at the Maritime Museum.

Although the Delegation had invited all the presidents and group spokespersons of the Parliament: PP, Cs and Vox did not attend, unlike other years, while ERC, Junts and the CUP were absent once again. The common people, who were also invited, have also never attended this event in which the Government delegate, Carlos Prieto, thanked the current mayor of Barcelona, ??Jaume Collboni, for his attendance, given that it had been three legislatures since the mayor of the city (Xavier Trias and Ada Calau never attended).

The PSC had, therefore, a wide representation, since along with Collboni the leader of the party, Salvador Illa, also attended; the spokesperson for the parliamentary group, Alícia Romero, and the first secretary of the Parliamentary Board, Ferran Pedret, among others.

The Government delegate in Catalonia participated in the event; the mayor of Barcelona, ??the president of the Barcelona Provincial Council, Lluïsa Moret, also from the PSC, and the permanent councilor of the State, María Teresa Fernández de la Vega.

The latter highlighted in its parliament the State of the autonomies established in the Magna Carta has been a success because it “gives an answer to the so-called regional problem” and “to decentralization” and because it has brought to the “institutional reality” an “arrangement between the Spanish patriotism and temperate regional nationalisms.” In this sense, he pointed out that, “although the territorial minorities did not participate, it does not mean that they were not taken into account” and has stated that “in the Constitution there is only one holder of maximum power, which is the Spanish people.”

For his part, Prieto valued that “the Constitution is the fundamental pillar on which the construction of today’s Spain has rested” and that “45 years ago dialogue and understanding made their way, reason and the will to agree prevailed, to live together, to share” when it was approved.

For Mayor Collboni, the achievement of the Constitution is “to have overcome a deep division in our country, to have overcome a dictatorship,” and “to have normalized a model of coexistence among Spaniards.” And for Moret, he pointed out that the Constitution must be “the framework where progress and new challenges must be met that must be met as a society and country.”

The event was also attended by the mayor of Tarragona, Rubén Viñuales; the deputy mayors of Barcelona Maria Eugènia Gay, Albert Batlle and Jordi Valls; socialist senators Gabriel Colomé and Manuel Cruz, and former government delegates Joan Rangel, Teresa Cunillera, Ferran Cardenal and Montserrat Garcia.

At the institutional level, the event was also attended by the chief prosecutor of Catalonia, Francisco Bañeres; the president of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), Jesús María Barrientos; the superior chief of the National Police, Luis Fernando Pascual; the division general, chief of the Civil Guard Zone, José Luis Tovar, and the chief commissioner of the Mossos d’Esquadra, Eduard Sallent, among others.
