The world of cinema mourns the loss of one of its greatest stars. Itziar Castro died this Friday morning and suddenly at the age of 46. Known for her role in series like Vis a Vis and films like Pieles, the Catalan actress leaves a legacy that goes far beyond cinema.

A fervent feminist and tireless activist against fatphobia, the performer showed that although many designers refused to dress her for the red carpet, style is not incompatible with size.

In an interview for El Mundo, the actress explained that despite the obstacles she has faced in the fashion industry, after her Goya nomination, her name has topped the best dressed list on several occasions, side of celebrities like Penélope Cruz.

“When I went to present Pieles at the Berlinale, we couldn’t find any clothing brand that would dress me. I sewed the suit together with a friend. But, since the Goya nomination, I collaborate with several brands and I have been able to show that the Fat women can look beautiful on red carpets,” she said in the same interview.

For her time on the Goya red carpet, Castro wore a spectacular green design, with a V-neckline and a white mesh cape and sleeves in the same fabric. The design is the work of SPG Woman, an inclusive brand with a wide variety of sizes that custom-made the model for the occasion.

Another of the red carpets in which the interpreter made an impact due to her styling was at the 2018 Malaga Festival. Red was one of the Catalan’s fetish colors and she did not hesitate to show it off in gala designs. At this film festival she opted for it in a model signed by Celestina.

Also in Malaga, the actress dazzled with a SPG Woman design in satin gray and full of shiny sequins with floral motifs.

At the 34th edition of the Goya red carpet, Castro once again opted for gray and sequins to shine with her own light. A design with a V-neckline, three-quarter sleeves and a black belt that catapulted her to the best dressed list of the night.
