Croatia Airlines has announced that next year it will operate again the air route between the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport and the Franjo Tudman airport in Zagreb. The Croatian airline will considerably advance the start of operations between both destinations compared to previous years, setting the first flights at the beginning of April.

In the first instance, the flights that will connect both cities will have two weekly frequencies, specifically on Thursdays and Sundays. Starting in mid-May, it is planned to add a third weekly flight to this route, which will be operated on Tuesdays. This means that for more than five months – until the end of October 2024 – Croatia Airlines will offer routes between the Catalan capital and Zagreb three times a week.

Airline tickets for this route are now available on the airline’s website with a price starting at 149 euros round trip. The announcement was made by the airline and the tourist offices of the country and the city of Zagreb, in a joint presentation in which Croatia Airlines presented its plans to connect the Spanish and Croatian markets during the next tourist season.

Since its accession to the European Union – and above all, with its incorporation into the Schengen area and the Eurozone – Croatia has become a very popular destination among Spanish tourists. The spectacular beaches of the Adriatic, its islands, its mountains and its historic walled cities, among which Dubrovnik, Split and Pula stand out, are among its preferences.

However, Croatia is much more, so the connection to Zagreb will once again open the door to lesser-known, but no less attractive, destinations. The capital is a cosmopolitan city that stands out for its architecture – which reflects the Austro-Hungarian influence -, its streets and its squares. Its art galleries and gastronomy, with a special mention to beer, are other attractions that travelers who take advantage of the route can discover.

Zagreb is a good point from which to travel through the interior of a country dotted with small towns and overflowing nature, with wonders such as the Plitvice National Park, a world heritage site, one of the most beautiful settings on the continent.
