Annual search lists are very useful for understanding user behavior on the Internet. This is why Google has launched its series of most searched terms in Spain this year, divided into different categories such as music, movies, news and sports. Likewise, the recipes could not be missing from their list to close 2023, a quite heterogeneous mix of preparations.

In the first place of recipes most searched by Spaniards this year we find lemon serrano, a Salamancan dish that combines lemon and orange with different sausages, canned fish and eggs. Next on the list are carnival ears, a traditional Galician sweet that consists of a dough that is fried so that it is thin and crispy.

More international recipes also stand out in the list prepared by Google, with the Brazilian cocktail caipirinha being the third most searched in our country this year. Fourth place is occupied by porra antequerana, a traditional Malaga recipe related to cold soups such as gazpacho and salmorejo.

Apart from traditional recipes, you can also see a tendency to look for more international foods, such as hakusai or Chinese cabbage, which is ranked number 5 and is usually used as the main ingredient in Korean kimchi. This could be an indication of the strength that these types of ingredients are gaining in European cuisine.

Among this year’s searches we also found seasonal recipes such as fig jam, which is made mainly in summer. Winter recipes are also included to warm you up, such as Castilian soup, a very cheap and comforting recipe.

Leaving aside seasonal dishes, the list also includes more timeless preparations such as pizza dough, quince or apple compote. The complete list is shown below:
