Aleix Puig, co-founder and current president of Vicio, a restaurant chain specializing in smash burgers that is being studied as a model of success in the delivery sector due to its exponential growth, presented on Thursday his latest novelty: Vicio Urgell Store (Comte d’Urgell, 204), a 500 m2 establishment with two floors, whose interior is signed by the Externa Reference studio, which opened yesterday and where customers (the capacity is 110 guests) can eat their hamburgers while watching how they are prepared in the open kitchens . It is the second of its Barcelona locations where it can be consumed (the first, a hybrid of delivery with a small eating area, is on Via Augusta, 21).

Puig reviewed the origins during the pandemic of this business that he opened with his partner, Oriol de Pablo Morató, in a simple garage in Sants, and recounted the moment of expansion they are in: of the 24 locations they currently have throughout Spain, they plan to add 15 more stores next year and go from the current 700 employees to 1,200.

The young entrepreneur, who became famous for winning one of the editions of Master Chef, made it clear that the multiple challenges they continue to face, “because we feel that despite such rapid growth, we have everything to do”, the most important is Don’t lose the company culture. Puig also pointed out that Barcelona is the city where Vicio was born and that is why they wanted to open a store here that would be a reference, and encouraged them to show that you can also start a business from here and be a reference and inspiration in other countries.
