Mossos d’Esquadra agents from the Cornellà de Llobregat police station arrested two men, aged 21 and 19, on December 12 and 13 in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat as alleged perpetrators of a crime of robbery with violence and intimidation in a domicile of Cornellà de Llobregat. Apparently, the assailants entered the property at dawn, where they surprised an elderly couple who were sleeping.
The investigation began at the end of November when the agents learned of a violent robbery and intimidation at a home in Cornellà de Llobregat. The events took place on November 27 at dawn, when three men entered a home and woke up an elderly couple. The hooded assailants intimidated the victims with knives and sharp objects with the aim of obtaining jewelry, money and electronic devices. Once the robbery was completed, the assailants fled the home with the loot.
The investigators determined that the assailants had accessed the victims’ apartment through the building’s light well, had climbed down to the laundry room, forcing the home’s bathroom window to enter.
With the investigation efforts carried out, the agents obtained sufficient evidence to identify the two assailants, both with numerous previous police records for violent robberies in Barcelona and l’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
Days later, investigators located one of the alleged perpetrators of the events, whom they subjected to discreet surveillance until his arrest on Tuesday in Hospitalet de Llobregat, the municipality where he lived. Subsequently, the police carried out an entry and search of the detainee’s home where they recovered electronic material stolen from the victims of the Cornellà de Llobregat assault.
Finally, on December 13, citizen security units from l’Hospitalet de Llobregat arrested a second assailant in the municipality. Those arrested were brought to justice the next day.
On the other hand, the Mossos are also investigating the death of an 86-year-old man who died after being shot at his home in Tàrrega (Lleida), apparently by thieves who had entered the home.
The Catalan police have reported in a statement that at 4:50 a.m. this Saturday they were alerted to an event in a home in the aforementioned town, to which members of the Mossos, the Local Police and the System have traveled. Medical Emergencies (SEM), health workers who have not been able to do anything to save the man’s life.
The agents were notified by the victim’s wife, who was attacked by thieves who entered her house at dawn, located at number 13 Segarra Street in the aforementioned town.
The criminal investigation division of the Mossos investigates the circumstances of the violent death of the elderly man, a case that is under confidentiality.
