In these images in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos we can see how the color of the clouds and sky of Cardona, in Bages, evolve as the sunset progresses, as seen in the accelerated video.

We can see how it transforms from white to a more reddish tone during the sunset. It is a meteorological phenomenon in which the clouds in the sky show a wide palette of colors that ranges from pink to the most intense orange.

As part of the phenomenon of dispersion of sunlight, in the morning and afternoon hours, when the sun is closer to the horizon, the light that reaches the Earth is soft tones between red and orange.

In this case, furthermore, the entire succession of images occurs around the imposing Cardona castle. The twilight light and color generate spectacular images of this fortress, which concentrates centuries of history. The exceptional Collegiate Church of San Vicente stands out, a jewel of Catalan Lombard Romanesque.

Cardona Castle is probably the most important medieval fortress in Catalonia. It is located on a hill that overlooks the salt valley and the Cardener valley, as can be seen in the images, which attest to its strategic location.

It was built in the year 886 by Wifredo el Velloso. Romanesque and Gothic in style, it includes the so-called Sala Daurada and the Sala dels Entresòls.

Its jewel is the Minyona tower (from the 11th century), 15 meters high and more than 10 meters in diameter, and the Romanesque church of San Vicente de Cardona.
