The cold and humidity of the water are painting the banks of the Llobregat river white, as can be seen in this series of images in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos captured in Guardiola de Berguedà.

The effects of the frost are noticeable, above all, taking into account that, at the time these photographs were taken, the thermometer marked negative six degrees next to the river as it passes through Berguedà.

In fact, the river originates in this region. The sources where the Llobregat is born spring directly from the cliffs that border Castellar de n’Hug and form a waterfall.

The excursion to visit the Llobregat springs is a classic, especially among Catalan families. These are underground water springs in Paleozoic calcareous rocks found at the source of the Llobregat River.

Frost is a meteorological phenomenon that consists of a drop in ambient temperature to levels below the freezing point of water and causes the water or vapor in the air to freeze, depositing it in the form of ice on surfaces.

The extreme case of frost is the black frost, which is when a frost occurs with greater pressure and even causes the plants to be completely destroyed.
