The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been dominating all the headlines of the international and national press for weeks. Every day, hundreds of people die in the Gaza Strip due to a conflict that seems to have no end.

In recent weeks, demonstrations have been called in different parts of the world to support the Palestinian people, since, according to many, a genocide is taking place by the Israelis while international politics washes its hands and does not act in defense of the most vulnerable.

Like any large-scale conflict, it has become a cause of dispute between friends and family, which is why it has also affected celebrities. In our country, many have organized and have asked in a manifesto to stop the war (Malena Alterio, Clara Lago, Jordi Évole, Arkano, Elvira Lindo, Juan Diego Botto, Pedro Almodóvar, Isabel Coixet, Marisa Paredes, Soledad Giménez, etc.)Meanwhile, some have shown their public support for the Israeli struggle and others have preferred not to take a position.

Yesterday, actor and producer Alec Baldwin was involved in a controversy regarding this topic that has become one of the main conversations on social networks. Last Monday, December 18, Baldwin had to be escorted after confronting a group of protesters in the Big Apple who were denouncing Israel’s military actions in Gaza.

Baldwin was walking alongside the demonstration, which was located near West 29th Street, when protesters cornered him to ask him if he supported the ‘genocide’ that Israel was carrying out. ”No, I support peace for Gaza,” the filmmaker responded.

”You work in Hollywood, so do you condemn Israel?” asked one of those present. At that moment, Baldwin burst out: ”Are you asking me this because I’m in Hollywood? You ask stupid questions. Ask me a smart question.” Baldwin’s avoidant response caused great anger among the defenders of Palestine, who began to rebuke him in the streets of the big city.

The situation was becoming so dangerous that security guards controlling the demonstration had to remove Baldwin from the scene. Although there were many who were scolding the actor from The Cooler, The Aviator or It’s Complicated, he did not remain silent and began to respond to those who insulted him.

At one point, before he had completely left the place, one of the protesters began to yell at him “murderer” in relation to the accident he experienced while filming the movie Rust, a set in which Baldwin accidentally shot and killed to cinematographer Halyna Hutchin.
