The arrival of the Constitution Bridge brings with it a meteorological surprise that breaks with the severe cold trend of recent days. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), starting this Thursday the 7th, a notable increase in temperatures is expected, a change that will continue during the weekend and the first days of next week.

According to Aemet, temperatures will rise between 5 and 10 degrees Celsius above normal. Therefore, it seems that the Spanish will be able to have a few days of respite after several days of intense cold.

At the same time, despite the rise in temperatures, the weather remains unstable. An Atlantic front will bring scattered showers along the peninsula, advancing progressively from west to east, but mostly avoiding the Mediterranean coastal area. This front is a sign that, although the weather is warming, it is not exempt from the typical inclement weather of winter.

Furthermore, this meteorological phenomenon not only brings with it a rise in the mercury column, but also an increase in the risks associated with extreme weather events. The northern regions of the peninsula, such as A Coruña, Lugo, Pontevedra and Guipúzcoa, are on yellow alert due to strong winds and waves, while Asturias, Cantabria and Vizcaya are at orange risk. In addition, snowfall is expected in mountainous areas such as Lleida and Huesca, despite the general increase in temperatures.

These weather forecasts are especially striking if the expectations for Christmas are taken into account. Although there are still a few weeks to go, the first models suggest a relatively stable and slightly warmer Christmas period than usual, which could influence the way we plan and experience the holidays.
