The year that is about to end has established itself as a period of countless developments in the field of electric mobility and 2024 is not going to fall short in this area. If we focus on two wheels, one of the launches that will not go unnoticed either due to its futuristic design or its advanced technology is the compact-sized I Am motorcycle.
And its particular name is not the only striking thing about this proposal from the Chinese electric mobility start-up called Naxeon, which has worked on the development of this project for more than two years. Despite its urban motorcycle appearance, the I Am is an electric motorcycle with a considerable level of performance classified in the category equivalent to 125 cc.
It is equipped with 17-inch tires and is powered by an electric motor integrated into the rear wheel hub that is capable of generating 10 kW of power and 273 Nm of torque. This allows it to reach a maximum speed of 120 km/h and achieve acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 80 km/h in 6.5 seconds.
It should be noted that these figures place it among the electric motorcycles with the greatest acceleration capacity in its category. The electric motor is powered by a semi-solid state battery that offers better energy density and faster charging speed compared to conventional batteries. Users will be able to choose between a 4.3 kWh or a 6.5 kWh variant.
Each of these batteries offers a range of 120 and 180 km per recharge, respectively, which makes the vehicle an ideal alternative for daily trips without having to suffer from the electric range. It should also be taken into account that thanks to the integrated fast charger, the battery can be recharged from 20 to 80% in 90 minutes.
In terms of aesthetics, this electric motorcycle has a clean design with elegant lines and distinctive LED stripes on the sides. It also has front and rear LED lights, as well as cameras on the front and back. Special mention deserves the 7-inch color touch screen that not only shows the usual route information but also the images captured by both cameras.
Unlike what happens with some vehicles from China, designed mainly for that country, it is worth noting that Naxeon has developed its I Am with an international market vision. To facilitate its landing in Europe, the company has partnered with the Italian E-Quilibrium for the launch of what will be its first model.
In some markets on our continent it will be available next spring at a price that will be around 7,500 euros, a really competitive amount if factors such as its design and performance are valued. If you are interested in seeing it in action and in greater detail, you just have to take a look at the video that accompanies this article.
