The Plenary Session of the Consell has approved the decree law by which the temporary reductions in rates in public transport services under the jurisdiction of the Generalitat are extended for a period of six months in 2024. With this decree law, the reductions are extended next year of fares in temporary passes and multi-trip tickets for 50% of the public transport services under the jurisdiction of the Generalitat for a period of 6 months, until July 31, 2024. Similarly, the Free Temporary Youth Pass for young people up to 30 years is extended to June 30, 2024.
Users can benefit directly, without having to carry out any type of procedure or technical process, from these discounts that affect TRAM de Castelló, Metrobús, Metrovalencia, TRAM d’Alacant and urban and interurban buses. These actions on the fare policy of regionally owned public transport apply to both public transport services managed directly by the Department of Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory, among which are interurban lines and the TRAM system of Castelló, as well as those managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGV) and by the Valencia Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATMV).
The Department of Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory has today opened the process to begin the renewal of the Free Temporary Youth Pass whose validity ended on December 31 and has been extended, by agreement of the Plenary of the Consell, until next December 30. June 2024.
This title is aimed at young people up to 30 years old and can be used on the transport services of Metrobús, Metrovalencia, TRAM de Castelló and TRAM d’Alacant. In addition, urban bus users from other localities, whose town councils have joined this initiative, can also benefit from this measure.
Young people who already have the title can renew it in Valencia and Alicante at the Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant automatic ticket sales machines, installed in stations and stops. In this process you must insert the card into the automatic ticket sales machine, select recharge and press recharge again. In the case of Castellón, users must obtain a new support that will be delivered to the Castelló TRAM Customer Service office, located at 1 Carcagente Street.
In turn, the Valencia Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATNV) has developed the SUMAJoven App, which will be available in the PlayStore in the coming days, and which will allow the automatic renewal of the youth subscription loaded on the card. This way you can recharge from any Android phone without any additional procedures or costs.
This experience is a pioneer in the use of this technology for the mass updating of public transport cards and the ATMV plans to use it in the future to speed up the updating processes of smart transport cards. Those young people up to 30 years old who do not have this pass can request it through the Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant website, in the appointment section, and at the Castelló TRAM customer service office. This information is available in the different communication channels of the regional public transport services of Alicante, Valencia and Castellón.
