She was born an infanta during the reign of her grandfather, Juan Carlos I, and became a princess on June 19, 2014 after the proclamation of her father, Felipe VI, but it was this year, 2023, when Leonor became a princess with all of the law.
His coming of age, solemnly celebrated last October 31 with the swearing-in ceremony of the Constitution before the Cortes Generales, has been the key moment in recent months since, at the end of May, he received his diploma after having passed the two International Baccalaureate courses at Atlantic College, Wales.
She has never been hidden and since a few days after her birth at the Ruber Internacional clinic in Madrid, where she emerged wrapped in a swaddle in the arms of her mother, the then Princess Letizia, Leonor has grown up in front of the spotlight, but she was not until his father was proclaimed King, when, together with his sister, Infanta Sofía, he starred in his first official act. Leonor and Sofía have had parallel paths and, they have been educated without distinction, they have grown up together and, everyone who knows them, confirms that they are very close, aware that, in the future, the one, the eldest, may only have to the other, the youngest, as a confidant and accomplice.
Little was known about her studies, although at the graduation ceremony, attended by the Kings and Infanta Sofía, her tutor drew her character, addressing Leonor with these words: “Your love for deep conversations has no limits. Your determined passion for learning, understanding others and exploring diverse perspectives has truly enriched your experience at UWC. “We will miss your sense of humor.”
From that day on, and after her return to Spain, the popularity of the Princess of Asturias has only grown. A few weeks later, she was in Girona to attend the main events of the Fundació Princesa de Girona, which led her to visit the ElBulli museum, in Roses, the headquarters of the FPdGi, in the capital of Girona, and to preside over the awards ceremony in a hotel in Caldes de Malavella. She spoke in Catalan, with a good accent, as is her English and her good disposition for other languages, as she demonstrated, in October, during the Princess of Asturias awards ceremony.
He was in Mallorca, as in the previous 18 summers, and on August 17 he entered the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, to begin a three-year period in the Armed Forces.
On October 7 she swore the flag and that day, dressed in the uniform of a lady cadet, another facet of her personality was discovered in the succession of images, both the solemnity of the oath itself, and, above all, with the manner, so natural, with which he interacted with his companions.
Also dressed in uniform, she attended the parade on October 12 and, for the first time, was at the reception of the Royal Palace, where the nice scene took place with some of her fellow cadets.
Thus until reaching the big day, the swearing in of the Constitution coinciding with his 18th birthday. Her image, dressed in a white tailored suit, has become the icon of a fundamental year in the life of the princess after defining in Congress, where she returned for the inauguration of the 15th legislature, the essence of her commitment: “ “I ask the Spanish people to trust me.”
