The Civil Guard has arrested a man from Gran Canaria at the Josep Tarradellas-Barcelona-El Prat airport who was carrying a suitcase with 42 mobile phones stolen at a festival held in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria).

Civil Guard agents at El Prat airport inspected the man’s checked suitcase upon arrival in Barcelona and detected 42 mobile phones with a market value of 35,700 euros, the armed institute explained in a statement this Friday.

After carrying out inquiries and contacting several of the owners of the phones, it was learned that the only link that existed between them was the celebration of a festival at the Yumbo Shopping Center in Maspalomas.

The Civil Guard has tried to locate all the owners of the phones to send them to them, many of them foreigners who did not file a report for the theft.

The owner of the suitcase, a citizen residing in Barcelona, ​​was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of reception.
