Like many other parents these days of Christmas festivals in schools, Gemma Solana and Joan Llobera had to record a video of a concert in which their children appeared. It occurred to them that it would be ideal to be able to take advantage of all the footage of the different attendees at the same event, with their different points of view, to automatically create personalized videos for each boy and girl. All thanks to artificial intelligence. Solana and Llobera explained their idea to Ricard Julià, who “fell in love” with it and, in turn, proposed to Daniel Lenhardt that he also participate in the founding of this particular Big Brother.
The four formed the startup IZI Record in March 2020. After an initial investment of one million euros, which includes various public aid, the partners plan to launch a first version of their solution in January 2024. To date they have He tried out with the music groups Buhos, Els Catarres, Dàmaris Gelabert and on the television program Eufòria. In order to finish developing the solution and begin commercialization, the founders want to raise another million euros in private investment.
“We make it easy to edit video content, hence the name of the company, which is due to the pronunciation of the word easy in English,” explains Julià. The entrepreneur points out that the startup’s solution is based on three main legs: multi-camera, because it uses the recordings of different people; quality sound that is provided by the artists themselves, and content editing thanks to artificial intelligence, which chooses the best frames from each filming to achieve an edited and personalized video. Furthermore, Julià is convinced that “video is destined to become even more important with 5G.”
Based in Barcelona and a team of six people, IZI Record is one of the four Spanish startups chosen to participate in the Music Tech Europe Academy, a pan-European acceleration program. Previously, the startup has been accelerated by Lánzate (a program of the School of Industrial Organization and Orange), Stadiem (Startup Driven innovation in European Media), Cuatrecasas Acelera and WeGrow (Iese). Beyond concerts and school performances, the founders of the company aim for their technology to be applied in the world of music and in all types of events where there are many cameras, such as a basketball tournament or a dance Festival.
