The 112 Emergency service of the Community of Madrid responded to a total of 3,128 calls from 0 to 9 a.m. this Monday, 7 percent more than last New Year’s Eve, without any very serious incidents being recorded.
Among the most notable are the attendance at 182 brawls and attacks, 1 percent less than in 2023, the 98 fires (37%), the 183 alcohol poisonings (28%), the 35 traffic accidents (-5%) and the 17 traffic violations (-37%).
Sources from this regional Emergency service have described to Europa Press the night as “busy” due to the large number of calls to 112 but “relatively calm”, with a greater incidence of fires, but few importantly, mostly garbage containers. Of course, they have highlighted a significant increase in alcohol poisoning after the Covid period.
