The trial that will decide the future of Daniel Sancho is already in the second week of sessions. On Wednesday the days resumed after spending a few days of rest for the Buddhist New Year festival, very important in Thailand. Now, witnesses are returning to the courtroom to ratify their initial versions of what they know or experienced about the murder and dismemberment of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta.
The accused is always supported by his father and mother, who do not hesitate to appear at the Koh Samui Court to see how everything unfolds. And in these last few hours a very smiling Rodolfo Sancho could be seen as he left. Something that has a specific reason: the statements and data that would support the accused’s version.

And there have been several important points that point to the fact that it could have been a murder without premeditation, as Daniel Sancho defends. On the other hand, the Prosecutor’s Office and the defense of the Arrieta family are betting on this premeditation so that the judge makes a decision.
To begin with, the messages that the chef and the victim exchanged before the crime are not relevant to the case, as the judge and the prosecutor themselves stated during the first days. After all this, which could support Daniel’s version, and for which Rodolfo Sancho is happy, new data has now emerged. Of the four knives analyzed, only two would contain genetic material from the accused and only one of them would have DNA from the victim.
But that only knife that could be useful for the cause also has problems. “It was found on August 21 and sent for analysis on August 21 to the central laboratories in Bangkok. That is, two weeks after the crime. In those two weeks the chain of custody was broken,” the same reporter reported. .
