At the end of the square of Santa Anna de Anglesola, in the district of Urgell, a gothic-style terminal cross marks the entrance to the old part of the town.

In this photograph in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos we see how I have captured the exact moment when the sun passes through the center of this emblematic cross.

It dates back to the 15th century, in the Gothic Renaissance style. Its base is made up of three stone steps that lead us to the Anglesola shield. In 1980 it was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN) integrated into the artistic complex.

Of the three crosses in the town of Anglesola, only the one that is currently in the Plaza de Santa Anna has been preserved. Dismantled during the Civil War, it was reinstalled near its original location.

As can be seen in the image, the cross stands on a polygonal pedestal, with three steps and a plinth decorated with the Anglesola shield. Above stands a simple stone shaft, crowned by the sculpted body of the cross, on a capital where there are sculpted reliefs of Saint John, Saint Andrew, Saint James, Saint Peter and Saint Paul, among others.
