A 30-year-old man was arrested on Thursday by French police as a suspect in the early afternoon stabbing of two girls in Souffelweyersheim, in the French region of Alsace, near the border with Germany.
The first victim is an 11-year-old girl who was attacked with a knife when she was leaving a primary school. The second, six years old, was also attacked in the same way while she was in a square located a few meters from the school.
As reported by the newspaper Le Parisien, both girls have suffered injuries and have been transferred to the Strasbourg University Hospital. However, local authorities have reported that the lives of the little girls are not in danger and that they have been quickly treated by emergency teams.
On the other hand, the suspect of having committed the attack was quickly arrested by the police, who have already opened an investigation. At the moment, it is known that the detainee’s police file does not indicate that he has a criminal record.
