Kieran Culkin experienced a moment on Sunday night that he never thought he would experience in his acting career. The protagonist of Succession won the award for Best Actor in a Drama Television Series for his impeccable performance as Roman Roy in the aforementioned HBO series.

The actor did not expect to get on stage at all, so he could not help but throw a dart at one of the favorites of the night to win the award, Pedro Pascal, nominated for his work in The Last of Us. He dedicated the first words of his speech to him precisely, telling him without cutting himself: “Suck that one, Pedro! It’s mine!”

Some words that could not help but make the Chilean actor “cry”, who burst into laughter seconds later.

“I was nominated for a Golden Globe about 20 years ago, and when that moment passed, I still remember thinking: I will never be in this room again,” the actor began by saying, who proceeded to dedicate the award to the entire team of the series.

“Thanks to Succession, I’ve been here a couple of times. This isn’t mine, it’s the team. I want to thank three wonderful women in my life: my manager, without whom I wouldn’t have a career, my wife Jazz, for putting up with this and everything that comes with it, and my wonderful mother.

Culkin won the award, winning in a category full of favorites and acting heavyweights that included his colleagues Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong (Succession), Dominic West (The Crown), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) and Pascal (The Last of Us).

This is the first time that Culkin has won the coveted statuette awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which has nominated him up to five times for his work. Her first recognition came in 2003 for her performance in Igby Goes Down, while the rest were for her character in the hit HBO series.
