Many will remember Roberta “Summer” Quinn, one of the most famous beach lifeguards in Santa Monica. In the two seasons that she appeared, she was one of the viewers’ favorites, and no wonder, since the charisma and spectacular physique of actress Nicole Eggert had a lot to do with her success.

The actress has always been very popular among viewers, who have remembered her fondly and supported her in her new projects ever since. Therefore, the news that Eggert has been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 51 has fallen like a bucket of cold water.

Eggert herself confirmed the news to People magazine, revealing that she had received the diagnosis of breast cancer with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma at the beginning of last December. “It’s been hard,” she confessed, adding that what turned out to be cancer she first thought was simply menopause.

The actress remembers that she gained about 12 kilos last year in just three months, and began to have “terrible pain” in her left breast in October. However, she attributed everything to symptoms of menopause, a process that she was experiencing at 51 years old. However, after feeling a lump in her chest, she made an urgent appointment with her doctor.

“It hurt and I throbbed,” says the Charles in Charge actress, who also reveals that the appointment with the specialist came much later than she would have liked due to the endless waiting lists in North American healthcare. “I had to wait until the end of November to review it.”

Three biopsies, a mammogram and several pathology tests later confirmed the terrible diagnosis: the actress suffered from breast cancer. “It’s been very difficult for me,” Eggert admits, insisting that she tries hard to maintain a positive attitude to “not fall into a spiral.”

“I’m sorry. It’s there. It needs to be removed, so it’s just a matter of knowing if I have to do the treatment – chemotherapy – before the surgery or they can do the surgery and do it afterwards,” he explains.

Even so, he admits that there are times when he panics, because he doesn’t know if it is still growing or has spread to other organs. “You sit there, you feel it and you think that every second that passes it’s inside you. It’s growing and you just want it to come out,” she confesses, fearing that she won’t be able to be there for her daughters, Dilyn (25) and Keegan (12). .

At the moment, she has the help of her friend Mindy Molinary, who has established a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to help pay for the expensive treatments that the actress, who currently has no income and has no family, must undergo. .

Eggert added that she is “really grateful” for her friend’s help in creating the fundraiser and that after her recovery, she plans to create a nonprofit to help others going through similar situations.

“I can’t succumb to this, what I have to overcome. They need me more than anything and no one,” he insists.
