When filming on the fourth season of Stranger Things had just begun, the set had to close indefinitely due to a global pandemic. And, when creators Matt and Ross Duffer had everything ready to say “action!” and starting the recordings of the fifth and last one, a strike of the scriptwriters and then another of the actors prevented it. Luckily, after these latest obstacles, production is already underway, as Netflix has shown.

“This is a code red. “Stranger things 5 ??has officially started!”, they communicated this Tuesday with the image that fans were waiting for: all the actors united on the filming set. You can see its large cast: Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Brett Gelman and Jamie Campbell Bower along with the Duffer brothers responsible for the series.

In December, before the Christmas celebration, the actors had already met in Atlanta for the first script readings. For now, viewers have been able to read a very brief preview of the first episode. What did he reveal? That it begins in the dark, that you hear a cold wind and the sound of the trees, and that a child’s voice sings a song known to the audience. The question is whether, as if we were in 2022, the Duffers will play Running up that hill by Kate Bush to send us back into a synthpop spiral.

The fourth season ended with two realizations. The Duffers revealed that the troubles related to the Upside Down were all related to that disturbing being called Vecna, also known as Henry Creel and One.

He had been a kind of mentor to Eleven until he used his special abilities to kill all the subjects in Hawkins’ laboratory and Millie Bobby Brown’s character, in a fit of strength, sent him to the dark parallel reality. On the other hand, Stranger Things said goodbye with the Upside Down permeating the reality of the protagonists, predicting the end of times.

In theory, the Duffers received the green light for an eight-episode season, although there could be changes: remember that both the second and fourth seasons ended up having an additional installment. In the case of the last season broadcast, eight of the nine installments were over 75 minutes, with a final episode of 139 minutes, a duration more typical of a movie than a television series.
