Spain will continue this Wednesday under the effects of isolated depression at high levels (DANA), which will intensify in some parts of the country. For today, overcast skies are expected in most communities, persistent and locally heavy rainfall, especially in the east of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, and significant accumulations of snow in the northeast, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
It will rain in most of the territory, although less probable and weak rainfall will occur in the southwest quadrant of the peninsula and the coasts of Alborán. On the other hand, they will be more abundant in the northeastern third, and may reach persistent strongholds in the east of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
The agency’s forecast points to significant accumulations of snow in the mountains of the northeast quadrant, with the level dropping to around 500 meters in the Pyrenees, the east of the Northern plateau, upper Ebro, Cantabria and environments of the Central and Iberian systems , the 1,000 in the northeast and the 1,600 in the eastern mountains.
The Aemet has activated the yellow warning (significant risk) in eleven provinces due to snow accumulations of up to five centimeters in 24 hours: Huesca, Zaragoza, Barcelona, ??Girona, Lleida, Burgos, Navarra, Álava, La Rioja, Segovia and Soria.
It will continue to be very cold. Temperatures will drop in the north and northeast, especially in mountainous areas. Weak frosts are also expected in the interior of the northern half of the peninsula and the southeastern mountains, more intense in the mountains, especially in the Pyrenees area.
On the other hand, the maximums will rise in the west of the peninsula and on the Mediterranean coast, while the minimums will rise in the Balearic Islands and the northeast.
