Bookstores and florists are not the only businesses in the city that have everything ready for Sant Jordi. A few days before one of the most important festivals in Catalonia is celebrated, some restaurants have already announced the gastronomic experiences they will offer for the Diada.

The classic Windsor (Còrsega, 286), whose cuisine is based on an updated Catalan recipe book, will have a lunch menu with an appetizer, first and second course, which highlights dishes such as an artichoke carpaccio with truffle vinaigrette or a lamb with samfaina. A Sant Jordi bread and a red fruit rose give the festive touch to the proposal, which costs 90 euros.

You can also celebrate Sant Jordi at the pop-up of the Veraz restaurant at The Barcelona Edition hotel (Francesc Cambó, 14), where chef Martina Puigvert (Les Cols) has devised a tasting menu with creations such as an onion royale. The dinner includes wine pairing, petits fours, a copy of the book Bar Furniture by François Monti and a rose, and the price is 95 euros.

The cooking and literature performance Sopa de Sant Jordi, which will take place in the Va de Cuina store (Comte Borrell, 54) by chef Jordi Vilà, is another of the initiatives that will combine gastronomy and culture. Those who attend this free meeting, which will be attended by the Alkimia chef and the writer Uri Costak, will be able to taste a soup with the exact lyrics of three fragments of the novel Solitude by Víctor Català and will be given a snail tapa to carry. In addition, books previously selected by the Calders bookstore in Sant Antoni will be raffled off.

On the other hand, ten restaurants in the city will give a rose to customers who try their Emmentaler AOP cheese tapa. The offer, which has been joined by, for example, La Gormanda, Per Feina and Thunet, will last until April 26. Also until that day you can order the cocktail inspired by the legend of Sant Jordi that they have prepared at Mr. Porter (Rosselló, 265). It has vodka, elderflower liqueur, grapefruit, white tea, and of course, rose petals.

Sant Jordi is also an opportunity to support the city’s bakeries, pastry shops and chocolate shops. Fleca Balmes (Balmes, 156) is one of the ovens where you can buy the traditional Sant Jordi bread, with its characteristic red and yellow stripes. In fact, it was at this bakery where the recipe originated.

In the sweet section, some alternatives are the rose-shaped cake with red fruit mousse, rose water and strawberry jelly from Bubó (Caputxes, 10); the vegan chocolate and praline roses from Sonsu Chocolates (Bretón de los Herreros, 7), which will be delivered in a package dressed for the occasion, or the dark chocolate Rosa Noire filled with crunchy raspberry pearls from La Pastisseria Barcelona (Aragó, 228). To finish, Cudié’s catanias flavored with Catalan cream are another delicious bite for a round Diada.
