A total of 59 companies from the Valencian Community are participating these days in the Heimtextil fair held in Frankfrut. They are 62% of the Spanish exhibitors in this international event, key for home textiles and decoration that will bring together more than 2,600 exhibitors from all over the world.
Foreign sales of the Valencian textile industry in 2022 were above 1,100 million euros, an aspect that the Valencian industry wants to improve and for which it is also seeking support from the Administration, as stated a few weeks ago at the sectoral table. convened by the Department of Industry to contribute ideas to the new “Reindustrialization Plan of the Valencian Community”.
Textile companies aspire to improve competitiveness and for them, in addition to obtaining support to enter foreign markets, it is essential to improve infrastructure and attract talent; address the strengths and weaknesses of the sector in terms of entrepreneurship or carry out actions and projects in terms of innovation. Furthermore, among its future challenges are the new European legislation on sustainability and circularity of textiles, to which companies have to adapt, or the digitalization of the sector.
The sector, which generates a turnover of 2,275 million euros in the Valencian Community, will be accompanied tomorrow by the Valencian president Carlos Mazón, who is traveling to Frankfurt to visit the Valencian exhibitors and who will meet at the event with the president of the Spanish Intertextile Council and the Association of Textile Entrepreneurs of the Valencian Community (ATEVAL), Pepe Serna. The vice president of the Valencia Provincial Council, Natàlia Enguix, and the mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, were also seen at the fair, since the Vall d’Albaida has a powerful textile industry.
In this regard, the head of the Consell has highlighted the “wide presence of Valencian exhibitors” that highlights the commitment that the sector is making with the collaboration of the Generalitat Valenciana to “be present in international markets and increase its exports, key to continue growing and generating employment.”
Their presence seeks to support the commitment to innovation and export of a “strategic sector of the Valencian Community that is doing great work to bring the quality and excellence of its products to all corners of the world,” says the president.
