The Government wants to adapt the Vocational Training (FP) offer to the needs of the market, avoid the oversupply of training courses with little exit and stop the increase in vacant places in educational centers, which have skyrocketed in recent years.
For this reason, it has activated mechanisms to plan, promote necessary studies with a high job placement rate. And guide young people towards them. This is the roadmap of the Government of Catalonia for the next two years as a result of an agreement with unions and businessmen. The president of the Government, Pere Aragonès, today presented the General Prospective Report 2023-2026, one of the key elements in the new planning.
In it, it is observed that construction or professions related to green energy are some of the vocations that have the most vacancies and high insertion. On the other hand, it is not necessary to increase image and sound, graphic arts or business administration and management because they already have enough qualified positions.
The General Prospective Report 2023-2026 presents three lines of action. The first is to increase the offer of positions for those professional families whose indicators indicate that it is necessary to have more qualified personnel, but who currently have few vacancies. This group includes computing, chemistry, vehicle maintenance, health, sociocultural services and communication.
Secondly, the aim is to promote those professional families for which there is a need according to labor market indicators and at the same time there are many vacancies. This section would include professions related to the food industry, hospitality and tourism, professions that work with wood or cork, electricity and electronics, environmental, commerce or marketing professionals.
Thus, according to the report, the extractive industries present 80% of job placement, a figure very similar to that contemplated by the installation and maintenance professional family (83.3%). The food industries (80.9%) or wood, cork and furniture (80%) are also among the branches with the most possibilities of insertion.
IT and marketing have 64.5% insertion, healthcare 64% and commerce and marketing 63.2%. The data includes the employment situation from January to April 2022 of people who graduated in the 2020-21 academic year.
And there are other branches for which there is a lack of professionals. Workers specialized in electricity and electrotechnology, welders, ironworkers, metal structure assemblers or blacksmiths are the occupations for which it is most difficult to fill vacancies, according to the report. This group also includes waiters and salaried restaurant service workers.
Looking to the immediate future, a survey of which sectors will have greater employment opportunities places trade and vehicle repair or the manufacturing industry as sectors with possibilities.
On the other hand, there is also a group of professional families that have enough qualified personnel and that market indicators do not indicate that it is necessary to increase positions. Thus, image and sound, graphic arts, textiles and clothing or business administration and management would be some of the vocations with positions covered.
The report, drawn up by the Steering Committee of the Vocational Training and Qualification System, chaired by Fabián Mohedano, must be used for efficient planning of the basic services offered by vocational training in the coming years.
