Prince William resumed his official schedule last Thursday, April 18, thus resuming his public commitments after the announcement by his wife, Kate Middleton, who confirmed that she was receiving preventive chemotherapy treatment following the diagnosis of an unspecified cancer after having underwent planned abdominal surgery last January.
The heir reappeared with a visit to Surplus For Supper, a non-profit organization in charge of distributing surplus food located in Sunbury-on-Thames, in the county of Surrey, west of London. There he got involved and worked as another volunteer; even receiving words of support and gifts for his wife and his father, King Charles III, also sick with cancer.
One of the volunteers, Rachel Candappa, gave him two cards, one for his father and one for his wife. A beautiful gesture that the heir accepted excitedly: “Thank you very much, that is very kind.” The same volunteer also asked her to take care of the Princess of Wales, which she promised without hesitation: “I will do it.”
Candappa, delighted, did not hesitate to highlight the heir’s qualities to the media gathered there. Excited to have been able to achieve her goal, she stressed that Prince William was the best father for her children, as well as “a husband,” so he “needs to take care of her.”
The volunteer also revealed what she had written in the card intended for the Princess of Wales, where she had tried to express her feelings in writing after hearing the news about her illness. “She broke the country’s heart,” says Candappa.
“Your Royal Highness, you will get through this with the support of your loving and devoted husband, your loving parents and your very close brothers and sisters,” he added.
After his work preparing the menus at the center, Prince William headed with the rest of the volunteers to a youth center in west London that regularly receives shipments from the association.
Founded Surplus For Supper is a non-profit organization founded in 2017, which redistributes more than three tons of food per day from surplus. Currently, it is preparing to reach the equivalent of three million meals saved from food waste, according to Kensington Palace.
Prince William has been very enthusiastic about the project and highlights its environmental component, one of the priorities on the crown prince’s work agenda.

Last Monday, the heir was seen for the first time after the announcement of his wife along with his son, Prince George, in the stands of the Aston Villa-Lille match in Birmingham; with a 2-1 victory for the first in the first leg of the Europa Conference League quarterfinals.
