The National Police in Seville have arrested 12 people belonging to different violent radical groups, followers of the city’s football clubs, who are accused of the crimes of public disorder, rioting, damage and injuries.
As reported this Friday by the Police, the investigation has been carried out by the Provincial Information Brigade of Seville and coordinated by the General Information Commission, with the support of the National Sports Office (OND).
The events occurred on November 18 of last year when, in a local hotel establishment, the birthday of a member of the ultra group United Family was being celebrated. Members of other ultra groups such as the Frente Atlético attended the event.
At least five members of the rival Biris Norte group approached the premises and, hiding their faces, attacked the attendees, starting a fight in which blunt objects were used. At that time four people were arrested.
The investigation has now allowed the identification and arrest of 12 more people involved. The investigation remains open, so more arrests are not ruled out.
The incident began when members of Biris Norte broke into the celebration and attacked those attending, breaking out into a mass fight, in which blunt objects were thrown.
The National Police managed to intervene and arrest four people at the time. The rest have now been arrested thanks to the subsequent investigation to identify the participants in the brawl.
The groups involved in the mass fight are known for their radicalism and violence in the football environment in Seville. This new brawl highlights the need to combat violence in sports forcefully.
