A few hours ago, Black Coffee’s Instagram account publicly announced that the DJ had suffered a “serious plane accident” while on his way to perform one of his shows in Mar de Plata (Argentina). The well-known South African producer, whose name is Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, has suffered several injuries due to what happened.

After the incident, which caused “unforeseen complications”, he received immediate medical attention and “is surrounded by a family and team that supports him.” So far, his entourage asks to preserve the privacy of the DJ, who is recovering little by little.

“We ask for understanding and patience from the media and his fans. Despite the difficulties, Black Coffee is optimistic and recovering well,” they added. And it seems that, despite the great scare, he will soon be able to do what he likes most again.

As has been published in various media, the DJ was going to offer a show on the Mute stage last Sunday, January 7, which had to be cancelled. The organizers of the event revealed that the plane in which Black Coffee was traveling had to make an emergency landing in Montevideo after going through “severe turbulence.”

During the flight, the producer suffered several severe blows to his entire body and had to be admitted to a clinic in the same city to be treated. Even so, the show will be “rescheduled,” confirming that his recovery will be prompt.

The 47-year-old DJ has gained great popularity in recent years, earning him more than 4 million followers on social networks. That is why it is not surprising that his profile has been filled with messages of encouragement. “Praying for your recovery,” a user expressed in one of his posts.

“You reset the standards and rewrote the rules for excellence. And you moved the bar higher for Africa,” another follower told him. And his shows are known internationally. So much so, that he is one of the headliners at his regular events in Ibiza.

And his success has more merit considering that he can only DJ with his right arm. Some time ago he received an intentional hit that reduced the mobility of his left limb, complicating his work. Even so, his mixes of deep house rhythms with amapiano and African rhythms have placed him at the top.
