We begin the year with the prospect of countless openings of large hotel establishments throughout the planet. The sector is still experiencing delays resulting from the pandemic, but, if there are no setbacks, the sector predicts an extraordinary year for those who have their sights set on luxury travel.

On private islands, in historic buildings or in extraordinary places, the offer of unique hotels that finalize the details to receive their first guests is endless. If you are one of those who love exclusivity and luxury or, simply, if you want to daydream, you have a choice. Among hundreds of them, we have chosen eleven establishments from around the world capable of satisfying the most demanding travelers.

Inspired by the art and perfection of the great artists of the Renaissance, this hotel, hidden behind a cypress-lined promenade, occupies a former orphanage and various adjacent buildings in the north of the capital of Tuscany. Its delicately renovated facilities will have 61 rooms and 21 suites that combine touches of Renaissance art with modern Italian design, an outdoor pool, spa, gym and a wine tasting room.

Its gastronomic offer will include a restaurant with traditional dishes, a bar and a conservatory with a greenhouse surrounded by olive trees. The baroque garden, from which you can enjoy panoramic views of the Duomo and the Chianti vineyards, a chapel and an ancient theater will make the Collegio alla Querce a unique establishment in the city.

It is one of the most anticipated openings on the southern coast of the Baja California peninsula. The complex is built in the image of a Mexican town whose buildings simulate typical haciendas with enviable views over the Sea of ??Cortez. It will have 96 rooms and suites, and 61 residences, villas and farms with their own pool.

Three restaurants – one of them headed by Richard Sandoval – five bars, a private beach club, a kids’ club, spa, outdoor pools and a first-class golf course will complete the new Four Seasons commitment.

Simplicity, the use of natural textures and materials and refined elegance define this establishment located inside the centuries-old tropical gardens of Nai Lert Park, an oasis of peace among skyscrapers in the Thai capital. Aman Nai Lert Bangkok, the country’s first hotel and urban residences, has been designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, an architect responsible for some of the most prestigious hotel projects on the planet who has been inspired by local culture and history.

The building has 36 floors and boasts wraparound views, outdoor terraces and a central atrium. Its hotel will offer 52 suites and 50 residences that will offer a very complete proposal of leisure and entertainment facilities.

This little piece of paradise located on a virtually unspoiled archipelago of private islands that is part of the Blue Hole Islands in the Red Sea, will offer an intimate experience of connection with nature. Surrounded by crystal clear waters and white sand, the nature reserve will feature 63 villas built over the sea and on the beach inspired by shells decorated with pieces of local art and colors, textures and materials taken from nature.

With direct access to the outside, they have been designed to offer privacy and great panoramic views. The Nujuma will have, among other services, a spa, a kids’ club and a wide variety of leisure and entertainment activities, including a conservation center in which guests can actively participate.

It occupies the Mihanovic building, the historic building in the elegant Recoleta neighborhood that was once the tallest in Latin America. When it reopens its doors – for years it housed the Sofitel Buenos Aires – it will be completely remodeled and under the leadership of the Spanish chain Único Hotels. The new design of Casa Lucía maintains the Argentine essence; a classic elegance punctuated by more informal modern touches and expressions of local contemporary art by Cristián Mohaded.

The establishment has 142 rooms and suites, most of them with a balcony, shower and outdoor sun loungers, allowing guests to savor the panoramic views over the capital and Río de la Plata. The La Cantina restaurant, inspired by Argentine flavors, a cocktail bar open to the local public with an extensive list of national wines, a pool surrounded by mirrors and a spa will complement the hotel’s proposal.

Surrounded by lush tropical jungle, green rice terraces and Hindu temples, Antara Ubud Bali Resort is emerging as one of the great destinations to enjoy a holistic and wellness retreat on the island. In this quiet corner that combines local culture with luxury design, guests can choose from 66 rooms and villas with pools.

Those who want longer stays can also opt for one of its 15 residences. A poolside bar, various restaurants serving local and international cuisine, a spa, kids’ club and a wide range of treatments for the body and mind will ensure a complete stay.

It will become, when it opens its doors this year, the most sustainable hotel on the planet. Hidden in the heart of the Arctic Circle, in one of the most pristine ecosystems in the world, the Six Senses Svart aims to run on carbon-neutral energy. Its construction, on the waters of the Holandsfjorden fjord, has been inspired by local architecture to create a design inspired by the wooden structures of the region, which combines perfectly with the natural environment that surrounds it.

Its respect for the environment, however, is not at odds with the demands of a high-end establishment. It has 94 rooms equipped with the latest non-invasive technology, which will allow it to be adapted to the mental and emotional state of each guest, a spa and a wide range of activities that ensure a 100% regenerative trip.

The establishment will reopen its doors in 2024 ready to recover the glamor and sophistication it had in its day. Opened for the first time in 1926, some of New York’s greatest celebrities have passed through it, such as JFK or the actresses Claudette Colbert and Bette Davis.

The chain’s first property in the US occupies a 16-story building on the Upper East Side that will have 70 rooms, 30 suites and 14 residences, to which the Swede Martin Brudnizki has given a modern style with a nod to his historical past. The restoration, by Casa Tua, will give an Italian touch to the gastronomy of The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel, with a first-class place to eat and dine in the city.

Just half an hour by private boat – or 15 minutes by helicopter – separate the Greek capital from Kea, the quiet island in the Cyclades that has traditionally been a summer destination for well-to-do Athenians. Those who prefer this destination to more popular ones such as Santorini or Mykonos will find in this new establishment a complex of 75 villas located in a secluded enclave overlooking a quiet bay, with a spectacular cliff facing the sea as a backdrop.

Its excellent facilities will offer its guests an ultra-luxury lifestyle experience for families, couples or solo travelers. Personalized wellness treatments for body and mind with outdoor yoga, a spa, a central pool, a beach club and an extensive restaurant and leisure proposal, with sailing and snorkeling as stars, will complete the One’s proposal.

It will surely be the most daring opening in the British capital, but for now, art’otel has not provided images that allow us to imagine what its insides will be like. Characterized by its modern hotels that combine a singular architectural style with interiors inspired by art, the firm has opted on this occasion for urban art.

The art’otel London Hoxton occupies a 27-storey building in the heart of London’s East End with 357 rooms and suites, an indoor pool, spa, treatment rooms, bars, restaurants and 360º terraces with spectacular views. But, without a doubt, what will make it unique will be the sculptures and murals by urban artist D*Face in rooms and common spaces, in addition to two original works recovered by Banksy.
