There are many people who year after year are looking forward to both winter and its first snowfalls to fully enjoy the different sports related to this season. Beyond more mainstream activities and sports such as, for example, skiing or snowboarding, motor lovers also have various possibilities, among which is enjoying fun snowmobile routes.
There are many models of this type of vehicle, but there are very few that resemble the one you can see in the photographs. This is the curious Widescape WS250, a snowmobile that has been conceived taking into account factors such as maximum lightness, a large dose of fun and a driving experience that differentiates it from the majority.
The first thing that stands out about this vehicle is that this is a stand-up snowmobile, which means that there is no seat (as is the case with similarly styled jet skis). This configuration has a great benefit, which consists of eliminating a good part of the rear area. This results in a vehicle that weighs less than half that of a conventional snowmobile.
To manufacture the body and chassis, aluminum is used on which panels of a material called HDPE (high-density polyethylene) are placed. As the manufacturer states, all this allows the vehicle to weigh only 91 kg, a really low figure if we consider that, on average, traditional snowmobiles usually weigh around 200 kg.
It must be taken into account, however, that not having a seat means that there is no space to travel with a companion. For this reason, the WS250 is intended for individual use only. The vehicle is powered by a 242 cc engine (four-stroke and liquid-cooled), which offers 22 Nm of maximum torque and is associated with a CVT (continuously variable transmission) system.
The force is transmitted to the ground through a track-type system 2.74 m long and 30 cm wide. At the front, the WS250 has a suspension fork similar to that of a dirt bike that has 140 mm of travel and at the end of which is equipped with a single 12-inch long ski for greater maneuverability.
Meanwhile, at the rear it has 100 mm of suspension travel. If you are interested in this fun vehicle capable of offering strong emotions during the winter period, you should know that its price is around 7,800 euros.
