Hugh Jackman, the charismatic 55-year-old Australian actor, is currently immersed in intense preparation to reprise his iconic role as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool 3 film, alongside Canadian Ryan Reynolds. Through his Instagram account, Jackman shared with his followers the dietary sacrifice he undergoes to once again embody the famous Marvel superhero.

In the images published on Sunday, January 14, the Australian showed off some of the extremely modest meals that currently make up his rigorous diet. Among them, options such as three tiny slices of fish with bimi and a little lemon stand out.

Another sample consists of a slice of fish accompanied by asparagus, while a third option is reduced to a spoonful of cottage cheese and chopped broccoli. Alongside the photos, Jackman wrote: “If you know, you know.”

Maintaining the imposing physical form of the mutant he has embodied since the first X-Men film in 2000 is no easy task, and Jackman knows it very well. Back in 2023, he revealed that he consumed up to 8,000 calories a day to ensure his body was in top shape to play the iconic superhero.

However, in an early 2023 interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jackman explained that he was “hooked on a heart rate monitor. I mean, my trainer told me I need to know what I’m working on, because I’m trying to increase my volume. At the beginning of his preparation to resume his character as Wolverine, the actor shared his diet to gain volume, and had the help of chef Mario.

The physical preparation process for Jackman’s return as Wolverine is a journey that involves six months of arduous training. In an interview with the Associated Press, the actor expressed his enthusiasm for this challenge, mentioning that he is in the best moment of his life.

“I can tell you that I started going to the gym, eating a lot and I feel bad for the cast of The Music Man with the amount of protein shakes I’m drinking,” Jackman said. “It’s a lot of fun,” he added, underscoring his excitement at returning to the role he thought he would no longer play.

Jackman’s commitment to his role contrasts with his personal life, as the actor announced last year that he was separating from his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, after 27 years of marriage.
