The renowned streamer from Murcia, ‘The Grefg’, is in the eye of the hurricane after the criticism received for the controversial eviction of an 80-year-old woman in a building in Andorra, owned by his company Grefito SLU. The case has generated controversy due to the longevity of the tenant in question and the conditions of her home.

In a recently published statement, David Cánovas, known as ‘The Grefg’, has come out in defense of himself and his company, directly disassociating himself from the daily management of Grefito SLU. The statement alleges that until yesterday, the streamer was unaware of the controversy surrounding the eviction, as the company is run exclusively by another person.

According to the statement, the elderly woman’s occupation is considered “abusive” by ‘The Grefg’, who argues that this is a typical rental procedure in which he acts legally to put an end to the “abusive occupation of the lady”, pointing out that she does not even reside on the property, but rather with one of her children in another parish in Andorra.

The streamer’s version contradicts the complaint of the elderly woman, who maintains that the works carried out in the building have made her home “uninhabitable.” The situation is complicated by the information that the woman has a verbal lifetime rental contract, while the company withdrew the renewals from the other tenants when it acquired the property in 2020.

The statement from ‘The Grefg’ also mentions that the company acquired the building with prior notification to the tenants of its intention to renovate. However, the elderly woman alleges that the works seriously affected her quality of life, freezing the pipes in winter and leaving her without running water.

The case is currently in the hands of the Andorran justice system, with an eviction already agreed by a Court of First Instance. Meanwhile, the streamer has denounced that the elderly woman has taken the process to the media to damage her public figure, accusing those who criticize him of seeking sensationalism instead of the truth.

The situation raises questions about tenant rights, contract renewal and the social responsibility of real estate companies in similar situations.
